The great decline begins. Or is it just WMT?

The "numbers" were that retail grew in Dec and Jan. "They" didn't say where. I wonder how much sporting goods propped up the figures? Now that the shelves are bare and credit card bills are due, how much will the economy actually grow?

http://www.foxbusiness.com/news/2013/02/13/us-retail-sales-rise-01-in-january/

Grocery store sales rose 0.6% and electronics stores saw a 0.2% boost. Building material sales were remained elevated, rising 0.3%, likely because of rebuilding efforts in the aftermath of superstorm Sandy.
The report showed that excluding autos, retail sales were up 0.2% in January after rising a 0.3% increase the previous month.
January's modest gain in overall retail sales came after an unrevised 0.5% gain for November.
The Commerce Department's retail sales report can be found at http://www.census.gov/retail/marts/www/marts_current.pdf.

You should check the PDF. It's short and pretty interesting, really.

(New) Car production is not tracked in this figure, but are a good indicator to gauge consumer spending. Their manufacturing was down slightly in January:

But it is up a good amount over the last several years:

The answer is simple... Wal-Mart's guns and ammo sales are down 100% (pick a number) from this time last year... If the hunters and shooters aren't coming in the door, they're also not buying Uncle Roys, deer pi$$, beer, or all those other necessities... That's enough to impact the bottom line...

Here, but occasionally There.
Lol, ah yes! Youtube, the definitive authority.

But, but, but.....

.....everything on the internet HAS to be true. I even heard a "somewhat" hot chick say that in a State Farm commercial.

Seriously, YouTube is a source for every Tom, Dick, and Harry to get himself out there spouting something, many times wrongly. I can't even stand to watch them regarding firearms as most have absolutely no communication and presentation skills. If the time stamps between the two posts were important as to how long the video is, I really would rather have something readable, especially since it allow me to back up and re-read passages easier.
