Another let down by the Supreme Court

Right decision. Arguing against a law that does not exist has no value.

I believe we are going to be far happier with future decisions that we have been in the past. Not every decision will make everyone happy, but we have a much greater probability of decisions actually based on the Constitution.

Did anyone read Alitos dissent? Kavanaugh and Thomas agreed with some of it but not all. Below is what Eric Pratt wrote in the GOA article about Alito’s dissent. What Alito said is troubling.

To be sure, Justice Samuel Alito’s dissent bases its conclusion primarily on the Heller case and the text and history of the Second Amendment. But he also analyzes New York City’s public safety justifications and, in discussing “heightened scrutiny,” his opinion gives the impression that such analysis has some place in the Second Amendment.

Eric Pratt is as much concerned about continued contributions, as he is about the decision to not make a decision.

I am glad he is concerned about contributions. It takes money to fight the anti-gunners. I believe GOA does a good job.

I do too, but just like the NRA, started out well, grew their organization to the point where more contributions were needed, so every time something hit the news, we would get another mailing from them.

Except Eric doesn’t get paid over $5 million like Wayne LaPierre does. And you see Eric everywhere. He goes on tv, YouTube, rallies and wherever else he can help the 2A cause. Wayne doesn’t do squat for the 2A. And the GOA fights a lot of battles in court. And those definitely ain’t cheap. The NRA has been taken over by greedy folks that’s don’t give a darn about the 2A. But the day the GOA pulls something like the NRA I will stop supporting them too. Hopefully that never happens. The GOA makes a huge difference. I get mailers from them all the time to send to senators and Trump. The NRA never does anything like that. The more money the GOA can bring in the better for us all.

Tony, I agree, but NRA started the same way, then expenses began to grow and they ended up in the condition they are now. GOA is beginning to show the same pathway. Both organizations have done a tremendous amount of good, but organizations tend to take on a life of their own.

Complaining about the Supremes not taking on a case over a law that does not exist does not help the image of GOA. If the Court had decided to take the case, other, more important cases may not have received the attention they deserved.

Constant complaining carries little value.

I wonder how much $ was expended to have this go that far and then NY changes their laws. Wait 6 mo and do it again till they break GOA. Not Good.

When the GOA starts trying to seduce me with free swag every couple of months, then I'll equate them to the NRA.
So far they seem to be all business.

I know the NRA has fought the good fight over the years, but their power is fading and something else needs to take their place, and right now GOA looks good to me.
