Howdy, this is my first time posting but I think this is in the right place.

I am a member of a campus Christian youth group at OSU, one of my close friends is a member of the campus's Secular Organization. He recently mentioned to me that instead of the group promoting secular things it has sifted to attacking the 2nd Amendment. Currently their facebook page (Oklahoma State Secular Organization) reflects this with a pinned post stating that the carry of firearms and "any other weapons" are now expressively banned at any group get-together, even if on public property that is off campus.

My friend is currently trying to work within the group to fix the issue, however he is the only gun owner in the whole group which mostly consists of left-leaning individuals.

It's a private group so they can have whatever rules they want, but since a few folks on here possibly donate money to OSU, and this is a college funded organization, it is just something I thought the gun-owning community should know about.

Welcome aboard but that part is laughable.

To be honest, this group sounds like they don’t know what the hell they want to be. Why would anyone want to be part of something like that?

I would associate with one of the houses in the 200-300 block of South Monroe and call it a day. Probably far less likely to have the problem mentioned above.

Because, despite the teachings of love and compassion, Christians represent the majority in this state and aren't always the most welcoming to those who are non-Christian. It's nice to have a group of like-minded individuals to feel you're still welcome.

Saying that, I hate that too many fellow atheists (though secular doesn't necessarily mean atheist) are ultra-lefties. I'm surprised at the number of pro-gun atheists.

To the OP, just because you're Christian, doesn't mean you can't participate in secular groups. Our founding fathers, despite many being Christian, still saw the value in a secular Government. You can be highly religious, yet still secular. Perhaps you should join them for a meeting and see what they're actually about. If they're a separation of church and state group, then great, they're actually serving a beneficial purpose. If they're just a bunch of atheists bitching about religion over organic, free range, cage-free, grass-fed, free trade, fair trade, shadow-free, ethical coffee, then I'd definitely have some formal questions why they're on the receiving end of school money.

Get a copy of the University Student Government Association Constitution and by laws. If the organization is funded by the University they are required to have a representative in the Student Government in order to continue to "officially" exist and receive money from the University. If they are advocating suppression of your civil rights as an American citizen you can go to the Student Government and have your organization's House representative file a motion to review the offending organization's function and adherence to the SGA constitution. Believe it or not as a member of the student government you can be hauled into REAL court and face REAL charges for violation of civil rights. Some members of the SGA at both OU and OSU just learned this lesson the hard way a few months ago.

It is a private organization that gets funding from OSU? How much funding do they get, and what are the spending it on?
Schools often charge "student activity fees," or similar, which are used to fund student organizations. In general, the university has to make those funds available on a viewpoint-neutral basis--that is, they would have to fund a gun-control-advocating group and a student NRA chapter nonpreferentially.

If they are advocating suppression of your civil rights as an American citizen...
...then they are probably covered by the First Amendment. Advocating a position--even a position opposing a Constitutional right--is still just political advocacy, which enjoys extraordinarily broad First Amendment protection.

Actively suppressing a right is a different matter, but so long as they're just running their mouths, the remedy for speech is more speech.
