Specifically drums, and production? I am a guitarist/songwriter struggling with writing original and unique drums, been at it about 3 months...been playing guitar and composing a good decade, anyone out there?
Sorry, another guitarist/bassist here. I either program one of my drum machines or use a program with my recording software when recording and one of the drummers I work with isnt around.
I use superior drummer 2.0 with a Padkontrol to trigger live and then reposition and edit values for hits for realism in the piano roll, ever hear Periphery or Animals as leaders, thats the kind of drum programming I want, but I cant reproduce without a months time invested into a 6 minute track. Meanwhile The guitarist and producer Of periphery, who programmed both and writes with AAL, goes on and does a song a day...fudge me.
What I really want is to find a younger than I kid who is just a machine, and knows what the heck he is doing and is hungry to put out a record online to get some sort of credit, but alas, they all want to play some sort or country music or something with almost no deviation from 4/4 and lets ticka tacka sploosh and call it good.

I know where youre coming from. Im a 7 stringer and play metal and hardcore in my band works but am really wanting to do more Djent or even industrial/metal. I listen to alot of stuff, especially AAL and Periphery, Jeff Loomis, and alot of others. There are a **** ton of decent industrial kids in Tulsa to work with, I just have to sift thru the flakes, and Im not here that much so I have to find people thru friends. One of my bands is based in Des Moines Iowa and the other in northern California, both places where I also run small businesses, and neither of those scenes are ready for what I eventually want to do which is do more solo and instrumental stuff. I love playing metal/fusion instrumental and metal/industrial stuff but its hard to find the right guys to work with around here. I hear anything from my OKC budds and I will pass along the info. I'm a drummer. I've recorded on 4 albums and toured the US twice I've played and toured with the likes of: Selfmindead, Living Sacrifice, Motion City Soundtrack, the All American Rejects. Can you play it on a Trigger or Keyboard? I dont know if I am quite ready to invest in a electronic kit, If i do I will just freaking learn them, and to nofear, you...me...harmony. I play on 7 and 8 strings in everything from standard B to F#
I have never tried that. I've always played on acoustic kits.
Ya, most drummers are that way, it seems only the most dedicated and hardcore guitar players learn to program drums, I will probably just bite the bullet and get a TD kit here shortly to trigger with Superior 2.0, just frustrating spending 20 hours or more just finding a decent groove or rhythm to go with guitar parts, not very efficient.
