I'm about ready to reformat and start over. The crazy thing is, it worked just fine, no problems at all when I was at Ft Hood a little over a week ago. I didn't change anything, I don't know why this is happening.

interesting. have you ever had 3rd party proxy software installed on this machine? forefront ring any bells?

try this:
start, run, "msconfig" , startup tab - uncheck everything, apply, reboot.

if no changes, try this
start, run, "msconfig", boot tab - check safe boot with network, reboot & if you can connect to the wireless try it.

to revert back simply uncheck safe boot.

ahh, if it worked a week ago we could try a registry restore point with system restore to 2 weeks prior.

I'll try the above. I had tried to restore, but the furthest it goes back on it's restore points is only a couple days ago, I don't know why. Unless there's a way to access older restore points?

None of the above helped, same results. I'll have to try and fight with it more tomorrow, I've got to get some sleep. I appreciate the help so far Droberts.

Courtesy of the some of the guys I work with who are much smarter than.

· Change proxy settings to "No Proxy"- and/or…

Tools > Options
Advanced (tab) -> Network (tab) > "Setting"
(X) Auto-detect proxy setting for this network
·

· Kaspersky has "Web Anti-Virus", that process all HTTP traffic, which may cause intermittent timeouts and failed page loads. Try disabling or changing settings…

· But all in all it sounds like a firewall issue …. And sometimes even if you have “checked” firewall settings or turned them off – they can still run or there may be 2 (i.e. Windows AND the security program)

Well. I reinstalled windows. After I reinstalled (no anti virus installed) it started to work for a few minutes, and then it went back to doing the exact same thing as before. This is very frustrating.
