I had that done in July of 2014. After the surgery, the doctor told my wife there wasn't hardly any cartilage left and I had arthritis throughout the knee. It was better for about 1 month then got worse. Just had total replacement on May 22, 2015. Sucks. But I'm getting better.
Hope everything goes better for your girlfriend. I had my right knee scoped in 1995 and it is fine still. She will probably be just fine. I'm just one of those lucky ones.
