I am starting resto-mod/pro-touring project. A long way to go though.

This! I've got a Willys 1953 M38A1 Jeep complete tear down and rebuild everything but the body back in the late 90's. Then got married and it's sat in a storage shed 18 years waiting to have body finished. I retire in 2 weeks and this is going to be my next project. Ha Ha! Wanna make any bets? The wife's always got plans for me.
Congrats on your retirement and good luck on the Jeep.

With my projects,
The 1st was my 69 Charger, that is seen in my avatar picture. I did probably 20% of the work on the restoration of that car. The rest was hired out. I watched & learned a few things along the way.
The 2nd car was my dads 74 Coronet. I did probably 30 to 40% of the work on that car. I learned a few more things along the way.
3rd was a 77 Dodge Monaco, to go along with my 1st car, the General has a prop now known as Roscos squad car. I did probably 75% of the work on that car.
Now, restoring a 57 Chevy pickup, which was my moms dads truck, I am doing 98 to 99% of the work on this one. The only thing that I will not have done will be the machine work on the engine, & installing the front windshield.
Next I have a Dodge Warlock & a Dodge Li'l Red Express to finish.
Then I want to build my racecar out of another 69 Charger I have sitting, & a 49 Dodge Truck that I wanna put a new frame under, make it 4x4 & a ratrod vibe. And I'll be doing every possible thing I can myself on the upcoming projects. I don't see a benefit of hiring someone to do something on a vehicle that I can figure out & do myself. Even if I have to spend some money to get a special tool to do the job, that is what I will do.

I sure hope thats everything on my list.
I'm vehicle rich, but just too poor to get them finished in a timely manner.

I want to do the work myself, except for the blasting if I go that route.

I am debating on doing this project or selling it and buy a complete, unmolested version. The problem is finding one that is rust free. I’m looking west of Texas to find one if this sells.

This one has very little rust and was local is why I bought it.

If it were me, I'd do a cost comparison. I know you can rent a dustless blaster on a trailer in some places and DIY. Between the cost of that, metal patchwork/welding, shaping, smoothing and prep work, you may find it's just as cheap and much easier to source a new tub.

I always thought it'd be cool to build an aluminum bodied Jeep with a potent V6 under the hood.

What did you do about cleaning up whats left of the body? I would like to hear more about your project.

I am not doing the work. I am having a place that only does sheet metal replace all the sheet metal that need replacing. What is left after all the panels that need to be replaced have been cut off are blasted and then epoxy primed. They are also installing through the floor subframe connectors as seen in the picture of the floor and mini-tubs so I can throw in a 18x12 rim with a 335/35/18 or a 19x12 rim with a 345/30/19 in the back.

The 69 is getting a Speedtech Subframe, Speedtech Torque-Arm Rear Suspension with a Ford 9". Power will come from a modded 6.2 LSA motor with Tremec T56 Magnum. 14" 6-Piston Wilwood up front and 14" Wilwoods in the back.
