Anyone had the opportunity to shoot the S&W 500?

I had a BFR in 500 S & W, it was okay, I sold it. I now have a S&W 500 in 4" with a comp., and I really like it. I take it with me when I go to my property in Eastern Okahoma, I fear bears. Have not see one yet except on game cameras, or what was left of them. But that is enough for me.

it aint bad just hang on to it, i think a 460 is abetter deal though

My son and I got to shoot one at the range that the guy next to us owned.

I would not want to buy the ammo or have a need for the gun.

I shot one 8 years or so ago at a big sales event at a local gun range. All the major manufacturers reps were on hand and if you bought their ammo, with the rep present, you could shoot the one the rep brought with him. My friend and I split a box of 12 rounds. It was the 8" model and afterward I thought standing behind my friend and watching him was worse than actually shooting it myself due to the pressure blast coming out of the muzzle ports. I didnt feel the recoil was bad and was very manageable for the size. I have a SW model 29 . 44 mag, and in my opinion the 500 was comparable in recoil.
