There’s still a couple of them in Texas that are still open, but they’re not anything like they used to be. I stopped by the one in Weatherford, TX a couple of years ago.

Back east we also had Western Auto that had pallets of Springfields and K-98s for $19.95.

I am from Minnesota originally way back when. Pamida stores were once part of Gibsons from what I remember. Just looked it up on internet in case I am mixed up and appears my memory is correct. Any way Pamida/Gibsons was a staple store in our rural Minnesota area. My guess though is my pic I attached is around 1980, but by that time they may have been going down hill.

Yes I do. I live just 30 miles south of Ada growing up. Gibson's was Walmart before Walmart was Walmart.
Loved going there.
I remember how every town had a five and dime too. Remember buying a 22 at a shoe store and ammo at the local Grocery as well.

The Stillwater store was near our house when I got out of the army. I hauled a pickup load of 12 gauge ammo out of there when they were shutting it down. It was a sad day.

The first gun I bought myself I got at the Gibsons in Lawton in the early 80s ! Saved up for awhile and got my Ruger 10/22 that I still have!
