I've been around some of the biggest cattle ranches in the world. Cowboy'd on a couple back in the day.
I'm calling Bull Hockey. Like the pic above, they will be oriented no matter what way they are feeding.
Now, if a storm is upon them, they will back up to the snow/rain etc. Bedding down for the evening on a normal day they will be everywhere.
What is the distribution in their orientation, according to your observations?
