If someone is that dumb, imagine what may be wrong with the cheap firearm...just my opinion
A established member here traded me a .22lr AR Pistol awhile back but In the description and photos there was just a buffer tube.
When he arrived at the meet up he had an M4 stock on the sumbitch that had the lever removed and a plastic screw put in its place to hold the stock in a position. Told me I needed to get some velcro wrap to put around it so I could attach it to my arm. Um no… that’s not how that works… I immediately took the stock off and threw it into my pickups toolbox and locked it.
So that’s proof that even someone that should know what’s going on also doesn’t have a clue.

There's a lot of people who think it's funny or clever to repeat the ATF meme. I don't care for the ATF but I also don't think they have the staffing or the time to go after solo/first time offenders on social media classifieds.
As their namesake suggests, they work with more than just guns and there are usually bigger fish to fry (organized gangs, illicit distill ops, etc)
You would be surprised how many people out there are oblivious to laws. Not everyone is like us following the law to T. They just don’t know and if something doesn’t make sense, they just laugh it off and ignore it.
Find some wet behind the ears low income person that is just getting into firearms stumbles across that price and jumps on it !!!!Not dumb, just ignorant and that is who the alphabet crews go after.
The NRC (Nuclear Regulatory Commission) does look at ebay ads. I do know of a gentleman that got a visit from them for making spinthariscopes from old smoke detectors. It is illegal to disassemble an Ionization type smoke detector.
I have a friend that had a pistol AR for sale several years ago on armslist and got a call asking specific, pointed questions about if it had a stock and was actually am SBR. He explained what made it a pistol and how to differentiate between the two.
Then the guy identified himself as an ATF agent that was tasked with making random calls to see if people were breaking the law.
My buddy never listed anything for sale again as far as I know.
Nothing would stop a troll from claiming that. People do weird things.

The ATF I have dealt with, don't even understand the laws themselves. I talked to the local ATF about some work I wanted to do to a Saiga 12 and they could not give me an answer. Nobody was sure.
