I agree that these 'useful idiot' stings are questionable...but IMHO they don't rise to the level of entrapment. They just rise to a huge waste of resources.

Got a 21 year old wanna-be who proclaims his intent to blow some sh$t up but has zero capability and zero resources? Cool. Work him undercover for a little bit to see if he gives up any real terrorist contacts/info. Once that runs it's course, pull the rug out and deport the son of a ***** or lock him up on whatever you already have on him.

I don't see what is gained by continuing the ruse, giving him phony explosives and taking him all the way to attempted detonation....other than it gets a big, flashy bust that plays well in the media.

The prosecutor will tell you it's proof of intent.

Without that proof, the defendant can always claim he was joking, not serious, bragging....
When the prosecutor plays the video of the defendant flicking the detonate switch juries respond and defense lawyers plea bargain.

Because we are the United States of America. We were founded by immigrants. Most of us are several generations in, but our ancestors were most likely from any continent but out own. This is like saying someone shot someone else, so we should ban all firearms.
