Well, they were wrong to b!tch when the backlash hit. No 1st amendment violation, just wrong in as much as they should have taken their medicine and shut up.

Actually, it ruined the Dixie Chick's careers. Pretty sure they broke up, and never really sold any more albums. Merle Haggard can smoke pot with Hilary Clinton, but the Chick's can't voice their opinion. (Lookup the Hag on Bill Maher if you want the Hilary story)

The boycott was a minor inconvienience compared to the tens of thousands of death threats.
Death threats wouldn't bother you or me, but the Dixie Chicks are girls.

Get a person with some public stand even less well known than Beck and get them to piss in a jar with a koran.
The great peaceful religious followers of muhammed will go nuts. You will spark worldwide outrage, riots, probably a few deaths not just threats, death sentences handed down by 'judges' in countries like Egypt.
People would actually fear the backlash enough to not do it. Whereas with Christianity or politics they have no fear.

Look folks, no matter how you twist it I am not saying Beck's 1st was violated. I am saying he is trying to point out the hypocrisy from the left on things like this and from many of the comments in this thread he is doing a fine job of it. Yes many on the left love to scream about the first when ever there is a public backlash about something they say or do, and yes I remember hearing one of the DC give an interview about their 1st being violated by the boycott. I also remember some left wing talking heads and many lefties I used to talk with online saying the same.
....and then sneak into the "hadj", slide the jar out of your "male burka" and leave it on the steps while you're bobbing your head around that big square rock in mecca. throw a pork chop in there with the book-n-whiz while you're at it...
