Look folks, no matter how you twist it I am not saying Beck's 1st was violated. I am saying he is trying to point out the hypocrisy from the left on things like this and from many of the comments in this thread he is doing a fine job of it. Yes many on the left love to scream about the first when ever there is a public backlash about something they say or do, and yes I remember hearing one of the DC give an interview about their 1st being violated by the boycott. I also remember some left wing talking heads and many lefties I used to talk with online saying the same.

I also can't stand the hypocrisy and double standards of the libs. They constantly talk about the hate, vitriol, anger, etc. of the Conservatives/Republicans but never say anything against one of their own who say things like:

December, 1998---On national TV(Conan O'Brien), Alec Baldwin says that Henry Hyde and his family should be stoned to death, no big deal to the libs.
August, 2000---On national TV(Craig Kilborn's late-night), Craig Kilborn holds up a picture of President Bush with the subtitle "Sniper Wanted", no big deal to the libs.
July, 1995---Nina Totenberg wished Jessie Helms and his grandchildren get aids, no big deal to the libs.
May, 2009---Wanda Sykes On Rush Limbaugh — ‘I Hope His Kidneys Fail’, no big deal to the libs.
November, 1994---Julianne Malveaux wished that Clarence Thomas would eat too many eggs/butter and die of heart disease, no big deal to the libs.
June, 1999---Spike Lee said that Charlton Heston should be shot with a .44 Bulldog Pistol, no big deal to the libs.

Can you imagine what would be the consequences would have been if it had been a Conservative/Republican saying something similiar about libs? Yes, there is way too much hypocrisy and double standards coming from the libs---especially when you consider how the libs above have faired since their public statements..

Here's my problem with this line of thinking though.

"The left" is one autonomous entity in the minds of a lot of folks (dare I say most folks on this site). It doesn't matter who says what - it's ultimately the fault of "the collective left".

When someone from the right says something stupid (and they do... often... Glen Beck is a champion in that field), then GOP drones easily dismiss it as the one-time action of an individual (because obviously, the collective right is smarter than the collective left - we're the good guys).

Then (and both sides do this so I'm only using a single-side example) folks on the right simultaneously complain about what the Left is doing and responding to the Left by doing those exact same things (hypocrisy, thy name is... well either side to be honest).

Beck is an idiot and has more than a few quotes on record that are racist, offensive, angry, flat-out-lies, and finger-pointing. Aside from those types of comments, he's primarily talking about how the left is racist, angry, flat-out-lying, and pointing fingers.

I just feel like at some point we all figure out that this roller coaster doesn't go anywhere but we're all still screaming and holding our hands up in the hopes of fooling ourselves into one more thrill until we have to admit that we're all living a horrible lie.

Honestly, I never listen to Beck on any of the talking heads. They are all full of it.

While I will concede that both sides are equal in hyperbole and hypocrisy, at least the shenanigans on the 'right' are cheeky and fun. All that intellectual 'superiority' from the 'left' is just sad and tragic.

Again, I agree. However with the left, their lib MSM gives their lib comrades a free pass on anything/everything that they say and do--24/7. There is hardly ever any coverage/discussion/condemnation(if at all) of their shenanigans that promote the advancement of their leftwing lib agendas(Keith Olbermann is one of the few exceptions to that rule). But if a conservative member of the right says anything that might/does offend those lib agendas, then the lib MSM calls for an immediate resignation and/or firing of that person and the convening firing squad is also called for. These are the double standards and hypocrisy that I have been speaking to. Of course there are some who will immediately try to deflect the discussion to other areas so that the lib’s double standards and hypocrisy are never discussed in any detail. The lib "personalities" that I mentioned before were never taken to task for their comments the way that some members of the right are hounded and demonized for their comments.

You are correct. This is why they are sad and tragic. True believers with zero tolerance of opposing, or even other viewpoints, are often humorless and mentally constipated.
