I'd stick with the .40 on that one, Coded-Dude. The 9mm conversion barrel costs, in parts and the labor needed to fit the barrel to the slide, about what you could pick up a surplus 9mm Hi Power for from Cole's or Aim Surplus. I'd buy a beater MK III, shoot all the hot 9mm ammo I wanted in it, and keep the rather rare .40 BHP. I had a forty H-P with the SFS system and wish I'd never sold it. That was the first pistol I ever bought, and I actually sold it to a friend and immediately regretted it. I tried to buy it back for a couple years, but he wasn't having it. I finally got him to cave and am so glad I got it back. This is one I will keep and hand down and hopefully stay in the family for generations.
^^^^Now you're talking! That .40 in silver-chrome has got to be rather hard to find, and you seldom get second chances on guns like that. You can find 9mm Hi Powers for not much money if you look around a little (I found an alloy-framed lightweight Hi Power for $550), and they are quite easy to replace--as compared to a forty--if ever sell one and regret it later. Very nice .40 BHP, btw!
Well, a SW Shield is a lot less than $500-650.
