Best 9mm with a safety

I like my M&P full size a lot, but I've never messed with one with a safety lever, so I don't know if it is one like the Beretta's where it is easy to accidentally engage when performing a reload, or one like the 1911's that is easy to activate with a good high grip on the gun. I try to avoid stuff that increases my chances of getting killed, so I opted for the one with the trigger safety only. Safer that way IMO. I would definitely recommend getting hands on any external safety handgun before you buy and doing some dry fire and reload drills to see if there are any accidental engagement issues.

This...and you can add a safety later if you Really need one

He ended up choosing the M&P with safety. I offered to let him try my HP and beretta 96. My m&p doesn't have the external safety but he lived the way it felt. Thx for the help.

CZ P-09, can have safety or decocker, comes with both and 19rd capacity in 9mm, under $500

I agree beretta are the best option in that price they are smooth and shoot exceptionally well and you should be able to get one in that price range

looks like used israeli, at least the one i saw for $419 had the star of david buy the trigger. you can bet it will need a new recoil spring at least. Aim surplus had them for $360+free shipping a little while back but are out of stock now...next time they get a batch im going to to buy a few of them.

sig from summitgun, HK variants, 3rd gen smith, does the m&p have a safety?., 1911 platform in 9mm, Ruger SR9 (I personally don't like ruger autos after the trigger pull on a p85, haven't bothered to try one since. Lots of good choices out there. That budget is doable new or used.
