Just curious about your opnions on what is the most accurate out of the box ammo? I don't do my own loading (maybe one day), so I am stuck with what I can buy from a retail store or Midway USA.

It is for a 300 win mag with a bull barrel and a boss on it.
It will be used mostly for deer/elk hunting.
I am leaning towards Winchester Supreme Balistic tips.

Thoughts?

Get off my lawn.
I don't like how the Nosler Ballistic Tips perform in the animal. I would look at the Accubond or Partition loads. I have some 200gr Accubond loads for my 338 that I plan on taking hunting.

WINCHESTER SUPREME .300 WIN MAG 180GR BALLISTIC SILVERTIP

I've taken a few Elk and Mule Deer with this in S.W. Colorado.

I dont buy shelf ammo. I have found that reloading it my self I can blow away most if not all factory ammo. It can also be fine tuned for each rifle. No one factory ammo is good in every gun, they all shoot diffrent.

I use federal (or american eagle) for off the shelf ammo. I've found it to be very reliable. To me, that's what I'm looking for in the cheap stuff.

I grew up hunting elk and mule deer with a 30-06 and most, if not all of the animals I have taken have been Remington Core Lokt 165 grain. One of the biggest elk I've personally seen hunted was taken down with 180 grain Core Lokt in .300 Winchester Magnum with one shot from about 250 yards. I'm not saying it's the best and surely one can reload much better loads but it's definately good enough for most hunting applications.
