Lots of good advice above. In your original post, saying a 22lr is a 100 yard gun is a bit of a push unless using a special gun with very good ammo.

Kinda’ solidifying your statement but my 10/22T (factory target model from a few years back with laminate wood stock and a spiral’ed hammer forged heavy barrel) is sighted in at 100 yards and I use a Bushnell exposed turret 6-15 x44 target scope with a long sunshade extension.
It is not much fun at anything less than 100 and I feed it nice Aguila ammo with super greasy bullets , or CCI green label

OTOH, my takedown model wears a simple and cheap 3-9x32 Simmons and will delightfully keep my little spinning targets rolling at 50 yards all day long and will make a beer can dance at 100 if I do my part —— but it’s definitely not a .3 MOA machine like the T has the ability to be

My 10/22 is highly modified with a Kidd barrel, Kidd 2 stage trigger and Kidd bolt along with a 30 minute rail mounted in a RUGER laminated target stock that l shoot at 100 and 200 yards. I primarily use a Vortex 6-24 and switch off with Weaver
T-36 for best accuracy at 200 yards.

Most of my scoped 22s wear either a 4x32 or a 2-7x32.

Now my 22wmr that does varmint duty sports a 3-9x50 as I sometimes have to reach out 100yds+ at dusk.

I like magnification, so both 17hmr AR’s are wearing Zeiss Conquest 4.5-14 scopes as is my Tikka T1x 22lr. I’m pretty sure my 10/22 is currently not scoped, but it’s worn everything from a red dot to a 4-16x over the years.
