The state of Oklahoma has eliminated the "Mechanics receipt" exemption for overdue tags. If you have titled project cars and usually wait to tag them until they are driving, you better gather up your receipts and get them black tagged before Thursday. The new law goes into effect on the 23rd of August. If your tag is out more than 30 days, it is an automatic $1/day fine, up to $100. So nice of them to give notice.

I use this a lot because I have 14 cars and most of them are projects. They are not on the road, therefore I don't need to pay the road taxes on them until they are driveable. This is total BS. Gotta feed the machine.

So I guess it depends on how long you let it sit. two years back tag, $100 fine boils down to about $150. SO if you KNOW the car will sit for more than 3 years, then I guess.
