Better to rebuild PS pump or buy new or refurb?

Im pretty sure mine has the reservior. The cheaper ACDELCO one doesnt

You probably have to swap the reservoir over.

Oreillys DOES have them...Ill be danged.
Now I need to be 100% sure that mine has the reservoir. Or if it can be reused as you said Dustin. I guess I wont know till I get it apart. Which, of course is a problem at the moment. Stupid city codes.

If you put a dollar value on your time, the amount you would spend in labor rebuilding that pump would FAR exceed the 50 bucks the remanufactured one costs. Rebuilding a power steering pump sucks.

Go with the reman, bolt it on, enjoy the rest of your Saturday.

yes you reuse the reservoir. sometimes they can be a royal PIA to get apart though other times they just seem to jump apart

Id buy a reman AC Delco way before a new Cardone.

Power steering pumps are a PITA! I once replaced an entire truck with a new one due to having to jack with the PS pump too many times. Hate 'em! Buy a reman and cross your fingers. That's just my .02

Since you have a leak you could probably reseal it, but how many times have you run it low. I wouldn't risk rebuilding only to find out a week later that its weak. Most of the kits you are looking at are probably only seal kits. Think about the age of the vehicle and how worn the hard parts might be.

This diagram makes it seem simple enough to rebuild, but now you got me worried about the old one being weak, lol.
