The wailing and gnashing of teeth has already started - but:
TPD claimed this guy "stood over officer and executed him". When the camera footage started being discussed, they revised that statement.

Defense lawyer says this early discussion "tried his client before trial"

This is exactly why footage needs to be released, IMHO - as distasteful as it may be, every defendant needs to be able to present the facts without bias. Having the TPD make public claims about the shooting, yet tying the video up so the public can't see what actually happened is wrong.

The outcome of this trial I feel will lead to protests either way it goes. Fact is this POS killed two of Tulsa's finest. I don't care about semantics, if he was standing over them or 10 feet away and shot them. This particular drain on society deserves to fry or hang

The guy is obviously not a model citizen, but words have meaning. Why would TPD use the verbiage they did, then feel the need to change it?

If the situation was one of an actual good guy having a similar event (think attempted gun confiscation, wrong house no-knock warrant or the like) the body cam footage is the only voice besides good guy versus 5 or 6 cops.

As rotten as it is, BC video is objective evidence and the defendant has a right to use it, and the public has a right to know exactly what their paid armed forces are doing.

Edited to add:

Who do you think will protest? Why?

Was it a TPD information officer or the sergeant on the street?

"Another issue, Adams said, is that he’s received information that the footage could refute statements a Tulsa police detective wrote in an affidavit about Ware’s reportedly standing over Johnson while shooting him.

“I don’t approve of what Mr. Ware did, but let me tell you what, if Mr. Ware was not charged with killing a police officer, we would not be having this discussion,” Adams said. He later told reporters, “Even if you hate Mr. Ware, OK; you ought to, for the rest of us and for the sake of our system, want the process by which the state of Oklahoma is asking to kill him to be completely and totally fair.”"

From the Tulsa World. I haven't seen the detective named.

The left/ antifa boys if one of their heros gets life or death. And it may be what gets conservatives out protesting (compleaty peacefully) if he gets off. It's frustrating that this behavior is still being allowed to go unchecked, it's time to stop letting children destroy businesses and communities. I do have to say @TedKennedy you are right, if it were a no knock red flag etc situation where a law abiding citizen fought what he thought were home intruders I would want to know and see the video. But I am going to say it was hard for this methy not to know it was the police preforming a lawful stop.

I don't see anyone rioting for some white guy, no matter who's side.

I see at least four lives ruined from this incident, over what?

If officers use enough force on a combative, resisting suspect to remove him from a vehicle, during a lawful arrest, break wrist, elbow joint, arm bones, dislocate shoulder in the process, is the Mayor and DA expected to come after the officers? Indict the LEOs? Is this the reaction from politicians fearful of the radical, rioter, looters, social justice warriors?

The guy rushing a cop with a butcher knife that was shot dead using the cops body cam the other day showed a perfect example of self defense but it led to days and day of rioting because a white cop shot a black man. The police department released the video thinking it would quell the riots but it did exactly the opposite.
It doesn't matter the circumstances these days, if a cop shoots a black man in a legal manner it's going to be a riot.

I watched it. Sarge talks and talks before hitting guy with taser. Guy talks and talks, doesn't want to get out of the car, pleads to just go home. When they finally move on the guy, it seems like a half-hearted attempt, maybe new cop is trying to be gentle?
Guy starts shooting, does indeed shoot the cop on the ground, hardly a thought-out execution, IMHO. It all went down fast, guy was freaked out and wanted out of there.
My wife actually took care of the Sergeant, when he initially came in, and later when his organs were harvested. The story then was that Ware "shot them, then walked back and executed them". That is similar to the reports first out from the TPD. Franklin is now trying to justify his comments, but I don't see it.
This situation is bad enough without the TPD and media embellishing the story. I think releasing the video is good for two reasons:

It shows the citizens exactly how this went down, how it escalated.

It shows how fast the situation changed.

Still pretty damn sad that this all happened over a traffic violation. Ware decided that going to jail wasn't an option. Cops decided that backing off wasn't an option. Was any of it worth it?
