Nerd.
Geez, you were about a year old when I first hit the 'Net via a lab full of Macs on an AppleTalk (not even EtherTalk) network connected to an up-town 4800 baud modem...What just hit me though was I born in the spring of 1987.

I use vim and cscope exclusively, but occasionally dust off emacs to find mismatched curly braces for me.
Vim can do that
You are too young to understand.
I still IRC daily. I was actually reminiscing about my pre-nerd days when I was new to the internet. One day, when I no longer had an AOL account, I started looking for a new way to chat. Ended up finding Microsoft Comic Chat. A buddy on DALnet #cars got annoyed with all the extra coding that came across the chat from the client, and turned me on to mIRC.
I tried to get emacs setup for my IDE, but it quickly pissed me off. I use vim and cscope exclusively, but occasionally dust off emacs to find mismatched curly braces for me.
