I have a "jack of all trades" can in jail.
Looking at going in on #2 to get some dedicated stuff.

    Eventually I want a dedicated 9mm, 30 cal and .22 can.

So...which of those should be #2?

I'm leaning towards a rim fire can since I cant really run #1 on them and #1 will work on the other mentioned calibers....but I shoot rimfire less nowadays.

Why can't you run #1 on rimfires?

Not being a wise guy, I seriously don't know. :anyone:

It "can"...but its fully welded and thats generally frowned upon because rimfire is so dirty. Most rimfire cans can be taken apart to clean.

Obviously though, since I'm still waiting on #1...I'm far from an expert. That's just my understanding.

Rimfire ammo will be back. I was pretty impressed with a bolt action rimfire at our range one afternoon. You could hear the firing pin strike and the "dink" when the bullet hit the steel. That was it. Pretty sure it was subsonic ammo. I never got to shoot it.
.22 rimfire will be my next.

I’ve noticed that some of these “solvent trap kits” have removable end caps. Has anyone done a Form-1 and attempted to register one as a “multi” caliber or listed more than one caliber on their form?

If the end that fits on the end of the barrel is 1/2 x 28, it wouldn’t take much for a machinist to make the opposite end caps with threads and exit holes for other calibers.
