Can a helicopter use technology to find buried stuff?

FLIR can reveal disturbed earth...but there is a lifespan to that.

well, they've used ground penetrating radar on satellites to find buried ancient ruins, so I don't see why not, doubt the resolution would be high enough to see your stash though. Use camouflage and bury your wares in PVC pipes next to your sewer drain, just be careful when you dig it up

I've been more interested in side-scan sonar for finding all of these safes at the bottom of the local lakes.

If the gov has taken to using FLIR or ground penetrating RADAR to find your guns / whatever, then you are screwed beyond anything you can do to prevent or curtail it.
