In Canadian football any kick that goes into the end zone is a live ball, except for a successful field goal or if the goalposts are hit while the ball is in flight.

A defensive open-field kick was attempted by the Toronto Argonauts against the Montreal Alouettes. Montreal attempted a 36-yard field goal but missed. Mike Bradwell caught a live ball and then kicked back the ball outside the end zone, only to see it caught by Duval and kicked again to attempt a single Kicked out of the end zone. Toronto then attempted another kick, but Montreal ended up with the ball for a touchdown.

Thats how I remember how it works from years ago. May look the same but there are quite a few different rules
