The cool thing about steel challenge, is you can shoot pretty much anything except rifle calibers.

There are different divisions for each type.
Single stack
Limited (glock 17, M&P, 2011 etc)
Carry optics (slide mounted dot sight guns)
Open (dot sight race guns)
.22 pistol iron sight
.22 pistol dot sight
.22 rifle iron sight
.22 rifle dot sight
Pistol caliber carbine

No special equipment needed other than a holster and enough mags to make it through a stage. 25 rounds per stage if you don't miss.
.22 pistols don't require a holster, just bring a pouch or bag to put it in when you're not up to shoot.

3rd Saturday of the month at OKCGC.

I know Tulsa has a monthly match as well, and I think oil Capitol does it too. I just can't remember what day it is. It's been over a year since I've shot up there.

Oil Capital does, another is SCRAP in Duncan. For those in the north part of the state, Wellington KS runs a nice outlaw version of the match.

Indian Territory in far SW Oklahoma also has one.

As far as I know, only OKCGC follows Steel Challenge exactly and submits the results.

There is one stage with 6’ of side movement on the clock, but I rarely see this stage used.

Well sure. Good point. My main question in my OP was concerning the PISTOL one uses for competition; same one or type as what you carry?

For all: Opinions on the GSSF Matches often held at poorly lit indoor ranges? Seems to me that is better than nothing. Me, for example: I can no longer run, or even move anywhere near as fast as I used to ... (5 failed lower leg surgeries will do that to you in some cases)...so I'm pretty much stuck with static training opportunities in an effort to keep my skills, as they were, up to at least some level of proficiency. GSSF matches, and similar, at least offers something valuable, IMO.

* Sure, I wish I could do R-n-G, or steel challenge, but we give up things we like as age, injuries, and physical limitations creep up on us. Lots of times, it boils down to an ENS for me to get any chance to shoot with or against anybody.

Gssf Oklahoma is held at Big Boys and BDC, arguably the most well-lit and well-ventilated ranges in the city...couldn't see past that part of the post, lol

Agree, with the exception that the 25 yard lighting needs some work at Big Boys to eliminate the shadows. Very minor issue compared the crap lighting in H&H and Wiltshire. BDC is freaking awesome!!!!

I've talked to quite a few people that use the shadow line to shoot at. There's a perfect centered shadow line at the big boys 25 yards on a tombstone target. I haven't figured out how they do it, but just about everyone except me at the matches does
