That's because nobody has any use for the Canal, an aircraft carrier can't fit through so who needs it. The Canal is controlled by a private company. The company is owned by the Chicom government, but it is a private company.
At least that's how I remember that it was explained to me when it happened.

Militarily, we still have them with technology, but logistically speaking, they can whup our a$$ because the politicians keep cutting the military thinking technology is going to defeat boots on the ground.
This is the area where the bean counters need to back off.

I think that most will agree that the Chinese are on the move, they are planning ahead and positioning themselves to be a world power. The military is also growing and getting bolder. A recent article at the NYT reports that the Chinese military views the US as an enemy.

That is true.
But, (somebody correct me if I'm wrong) I read something about the canal being enlarged to accomadate super tankers and major cruise ships. If it will take a carrier.....I don't know.

I agree with you, today we have them. What about five, ten years from now? With a failing economy here, and rising there will that be the case then? I don't know. They don't just produce items such as computers and other electronics, they also gain technology.

Beijing, China -- Sources at the United States Embassy in Beijing China have just CONFIRMED to me that the United States of America has tendered to China a written agreement which grants to the People's Republic of China, an option to exercise Eminent Domain within the USA, as collateral for China's con More..tinued purchase of US Treasury Notes and existing US Currency reserves!

The written agreement was brought to Beijing by Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and was formalized and agreed-to during her recent trip to China.

This means that in the event the US Government defaults on its financial obligations to China, the Communist Government of China would be permitted to physically take -- inside the USA -- land, buildings, factories, perhaps even entire cities - to satisfy the financial obligations of the US government.....

The Little Green Footballs blog traced the story to an unsigned post at LiveLeak.com that claimed an unnamed source at the U.S. Embassy in Beijing had "confirmed" that Clinton brought the agreement with her to China.

Little Green Footballs also referenced a similar story written by talk-radio host Hal Turner that reproduced the LiveLeak.com story virtually word-for-word.

The now-discredited story seemed to gain emotional energy from the unfounded fear that "our federal government has now granted to China this power to 'take' our homes and businesses in the event the U.S. government defaults on its debts."

If it was in an email from someone I didn't know and wasn't expecting it, I could believe it but ....

OTOH it is sad that we have reached the point that we consider it true. It shows how much many people trust Washington DC. If you consider how much money the Chicoms have poured in to the Presidential campaigns and the goodies they got in return (prime example but not limited to the Clintons), it starts to become believable.
