A co-worker starts putting up his lights on the first of Oct.
He will be done by the first week in Nov. Everything computer controlled, and lights to music, while other displays are timed LED's that spell out Merry Christmas in cursive like somebody was writing it on a board, and so on and so on.
The entire neighborhood gets into it with his help, so it turns out to be one heck of a display. We lived a block away before moving to the country 15 years ago. Our display had Santa in the front of our bass boat with a tiny electric motor making him raise and lower his fishing rod, etc. Bus tours from OKC and Witchita Ks were constantly bringing loads of folks to our neighborhood. It was pretty cool. We have since moved away, but the display continues.

Im puttin my foot down, i aint doing lights this year.

I put up lights the 1st year we had our house, all I ended up doing was fixing crap that blew down, replacing fuses, etc for a month. After I took those SOBs down I told the wife she could get one of her brothers to help but I was not participating in that waste of time again. We haven't had outside lights since and it has been great

Might make it a bottle of 1942 if there are too many lights. Good luck with your bribery.

I already drank bout half the bottle the other nite, ill add water. Them 2 light weights would never know the difference.

Besides im gettin them each a mosin for xmas, instead of a pack of socks.

http://forums.planetchristmas.com/ has pretty much all the information you could ever want when it comes to Christmas lighting. That, and http://www.doityourselfchristmas.com/.

Of the two, I think I liked Planet Christmas a little better. I was all set to light the old house in Ohio, but the money started running out, and now I'm down here. And here, the house sits 200 feet back from a dirt road that doesn't get much traffic. :(

My sister wants her house done this year and was just going to hire someone to put them up. I told her I would pick everything out for her and install everything for her, I'm really doing it for my niece. I have some questions for all you experts. I know I want to buy her LED lights for her house, but I would like to buy some LED's that can change color for her on her house. I know they make them obviously because I've been to see the houses that are done up like crazy with the light shows. I understand a lot of leg work and money goes into those shows using controllers and computers, etc. I guess my question is do they make color changing LED lights for a house that you can change with a cheap or easy controller or one built in? She is not wanting some fancy light show, but it would be nice to be able to change the colors of your lights every 30 secs or minute. Do they make such a thing? And what are the good brands and model of lights? Go with C9 or C7 bulbs? I know GE makes some color changing light strings I think?

Finally convinced my wife this year, no more outside lights. Where we live, no one can see them but us! So, we put up the tree and inside decorations a month earthy in exchange.
