Make sure you have these "new" homes rekeyed by a licensed locksmith. You never know who has an existing key to your place. Would suck big time to have your home burglarized by someone with a key.

And if you can afford it try and get the nice kwiset Electronic Keypad Deadbolts, I LOVE them, have stood up longer than a regular deadbolt for me for the last 2 years, can have up to 8 digit number or 4 for quick entry, makes bringing in groceries and other stuff MUCH simpler if not using garage.

very nice! i like the porch as well, since mine is like a 3x3 step more than a porch

Same here. I don't want to say that we "settled" on our house, because we didn't, it had everything we were looking for in our first home, but a big porch. We'll sit on my tailgate in the garage and enjoy the evening, but there's nothing like sitting in a chair on your own porch.

I guess I also learned that you overcompensate when it comes to garages. We have 2 cars and a 2 car garage, with 2 cars, we should have gotten a house with a 3 car garage.
