There are places here in Shawnee that do that. One namely is the Citizen Potawatomi Nation indian housing. They won't even let you have BB guns in the house. I understand that businesses have the right to do this but I don't agree with it. It says in our SDA handbook that citizens have the right to expect absolute safety within their homes or places of business. This also falls under either a dwelling you own or lease. But when a landlord doesn't want guns in their homes or apartments they are depriving a person of their right to feel absolute safety in their home. I think this really needs to be addressed and changed. I know that some of you will say "just live somewhere else". Well that isn't a possibility for some. Some people live in certain places because it is all they can afford. Someone shouldn't have to feel unsafe because a landlord doesn't want guns. It is the dumbest thing I have ever heard. There is no reason to not allow it. I can tell you this, no one would ever tell me I couldn't have a gun in the house to protect my family.

Indian trust land is a whole different animal. The tribe could make whatever change they wish if they got some pressure to do so.

I've always wondered about the legality of just scanning in a contact like the apartment contracts, removing the bits you don't like and then printing the new contract out on new carbonless paper.

"You mean my lease says I would have no firearms. You better pull mine out and check. Ha!"

Mmm...battle of the forms. Thank you, Prof. Pagano.

And I've actually done something similar. The agent quoted me different terms than the writing. I crossed out theirs and wrote in our understanding. A few months later, management noticed the difference and demanded I pay the higher amount. I told them to get stuffed and check with their counsel. They never bothered me again on that point, but they also refused to renew my lease at the end of the term, and put me on their company blacklist.

Ha, that's funny. They agreed to the terms and then took it out on you when they decided they don't like it. Typical.
