After 9 years in Houston we moved back to Tulsa six months ago. In Texas a business or area has to post a sign showing the 30.06 (no open carry) or 30.07 (no concealed carry) in 1” tall letters in a conspicuous place. Even if you are caught with a firearm in a legally marked area you are asked to leave and if you don’t they can call the cops and it is a trespassing charge. I know from experience, because they were so afraid they did not even ask me to leave they just called the cops. did not get charged, just was asked to leave by a nice LEO but I will no longer shop at sprouts for this reason.

The gun buster signs are meaningless in Texas other than to make the snowflakes feel better. I went to the casino this weekend with (a Glock 19) IWB and they have a sign that says no weapons allowed I just walked on in. Hope I was not doing something illegal.

Take this with a grain of salt (not a lawyer) but in and of itself, the sign doesn't mean much. They can ask you to leave (I believe whether there is a sign or not), if you don't they can call the police and they will ask you to leave. As far as I know you would only be charged with trespassing if you then refuse to leave. (EDIT: I just read that portion of the SDA, if they ask you to leave, you don't, they call the police you can at that point be fined up to $250 IF they have posted a no weapons sign)

You cannot legally carry in an establishment whose primary business is serving alcohol. I don't know if you could say that about a casino or not, but if there's a bar in it you'd need to stay clear, and being in the casino might in and of itself be an issue.

That is my understanding under current law, anyway....

Here is a link to the full SDA, if you want to read through it for yourself... it's 57 pages long, but since you've been away a while probably worth reading through. It all changes on Nov. 1

In most place it would be true that the sign doesn't mean crap. However remember that most if not all casino's in the state are tribal. That means they are probably on tribal land. They are not federal buildings but they are considered pretty much exempt from a lot of state laws. So if they catch you and they do not approve of carry even when driving along a roadway they can and probably will make an example out of you which does happen in either tribal or federal court and either way works as a federal conviction from what I understand of it.

So concealed is concealed but remember it's a much more touchy subject compared to the local grocery store or gas station not located on tribal land.

As stated above, casinos are only allowed on tribal land, which means you are subject to their jurisdiction and laws, not Oklahoma state law. As each tribal law is different per tribe, I would say its best not to test the waters and just lock your gun in your car. Even though technically the parking lot is also on tribal land, I would bet they would be a lot more lenient for a guest locking their firearm in the car than to just assume its ok to bring it into the casino, sign or not.
