Being on pain management, I haven't had anything alcoholic in 5 years. Doc said I can consume any of these if they say it is 0 alcohol.

I was at Loui's with some friends and the bartender cam around for orders. I asked if they had the new Ritual non alcohol whiskey, rum, gin, replacement. I explained I was on pain management and he knew what I was talking about. He said no but he did have a Coors Edge beer non alcoholic and would let me try it for free. My God! It was great! I asked for a bloody mary tomato mix for my newfound red beer. Delicious!

I mean it is not a craft beer nor a run of the mill name brand regular beer, but for a guy that has been celibate for 5 years, it was pretty good.

My concern is the "non alcoholic" beers you can get, some are not zero alcohol. I looked it up and the Coors brand is less than 0.5% alcohol. I gotta ask the doc again I guess. I will not consume any more unless she say I can.

Now to this Ritual stuff.

My question, is ZERO PROOF, ZERO PROOF?

Definitely call your doc but I have a hard time believing .5% will have any interaction with your meds. I don’t drink myself but enjoy the taste of beer so I’ve gone through a number finding the best, at least to my taste. Coors Edge is one of the best along with Odoul’s Amber. Gotta be the Amber because the green bottle is awful. Tastes like it’s already been ran through once. 😉

I always keep the Heineken 0 around. I like it on its own or mix it half and half with a regular beer. If you like stout it’s pretty amazing how close no alcohol Guinness tastes to the regular.

I’ve been down this path for many years. I’ve tried them all. Heineken 0.0 tastes like regular American beer. I like it a lot.

There are a ton of German beers that are non-alcohol and the taste goes from mild to way hoppy. Becks, Cluasthaler, St. Pauli Girl, Guinness, Buckler’s are all good.

Most American brewers filter out the alcohol and that’s a recipe for a poor tasting NA beer.

The European brewers cook at a lower temp with less hops and evaporate the alcohol. Much better taste.

I’ve tried Ritual and other NA spirits. I don’t care for any of them. Nothing will taste like real bourbon, rye, etc. I’ve taken to really strong ginger beers like Q.

If your taste leans towards high octane spirits I’m afraid all the current offerings available will disappoint.

Best of luck on your journey!
