Yep i just got 500 of the #3031 bullet which is a 150gr spitzer flat base .30 cal.
Hope these new ones will hold as tight as groups as the old ones.
Could shoot 2.25" at 300 yards with 3 shots...550"-.990" at 100 yards.
The old ones have a tip that fits into my seating die without touching the tip.. new ones are just fat enough to push on the lead tip at the mid point.
Had to drill my seating die to seat on the ogive of the bullet.
Then i measured the taper not the same!!!!!! CRAP!!
so now start over working up a load with adjusting OAL
This bullet sits .035" longer to have the same distance to the lands...
Bad thing is i weighed and filled 100 rounds with my beam 505 scale.
Thinking the bullets were the same....seated a couple and noticed the bearing surface was way down into the neck.....Some got seated short and some the .035" longer i think i need to match the old ones.
Hope they shoot good....
I may contact Hornady.
But really what good will it do.
