So the law is the law, unless you're Mark Mullin or Charles Dreyling Jr.

Republican gets Oklahoma City airport bomb suspect out of jail

[Former Oklahoma City mayor Kirk Humphreys, a Republican, helped Charles Alfred Dreyling, 24, get out of jail last week after he was arrested carrying a pipe bomb into Will Rogers World Airport.

Dreyling told authorities that he had made the device and said it was “basically a pipe bomb,” according to an affidavit. Dreyling said he built the device for entertainment value, never intending to hurt anyone, and forgot that it was in his carryon bag when he brought it to the airport, the affidavit said.

Dreyling said he learned as a teenager how to build homemade explosives from Web sites like “The Anarchist’s Cook Book.” Dreyling said he has built and detonated several explosive devices for recreational purposes, according to the affidavit. - Airport Business

Humphreys testified at Dreyling’s court hearing.

Based in part on Humphreys’ testimony, Dreyling was released to the custody of his mother on $10,000 bail. If convicted, Dreyling faces up to 10 years in prison and up to a $250,000 fine.]

Recently, we've had a spate of Sheriffs and Officers declaring they won't enforce new gun laws as they see them to be unconstitutional. Shame that the arresting Officer(s) didn't see the ones on the books there in the same light. Maybe then it would have been more like, "Hey, pal - get these out of the city ASAP. I'm supposed to snatch you up just for possessing them. Drive on, have a nice day, and oh yeah...stop consenting to searches."

well let's mash together responses from the other threads:

He can't or won't play by the rules that keep everyone safe. If he's convicted, and loses his RKBA, he can apply for and most likely be granted a pardon restoring all of his rights. Isn't the pardon process there to give deserving people there rights back and to keep the others from having those privileges restored?
If he was so worried about being able to own a gun maybe he should have considered the consequences of his actions. The Constitution is a social contract. If you do not fulfill your end of the social contract then you do not get all of the benefits that the contract provides to our society god given or otherwise. You forfeit that right when you can't or refuse to abide by the law set forth by society.
Why should we accommodate a few losers who for whatever reason can't abide by the law?

Personally I don't give a crap. I am not a felon so it doesn't matter to me. He earned his charge doing a violent crime note the term violent criminal. By committing a crime against society, that person has surrendered any natural rights in that society otherwise, anarchy.

If you can't do the time don't do the crime. It's pretty simple. What happened to taking responsibility for yourself? If I didn't know better I'd think I was reading posts on some left wing discussion board.
