Interesting take on this case, and on the topic of oath keeper cops:
http://mountainguerrilla.wordpress.com/2013/01/31/a-suggestion-to-oathkeepers/

This is something I’ve been pondering on for several weeks now, and the Haddad case in NY brings it to a very abrupt point. I would not have consented to a search. I will NEVER consent to a search. If you try to concoct a reason for a search, I will kill you in defense of my family and property and liberty. If I knew I had 5 mags in the trunk, worth 7 years each, I would not have let you open the trunk without a fight, period. That’s 35 years. That’s THE REST OF MY ****ING LIFE. Why not kill you and take the fight to the enemy for as long as possible?

Where are you guys getting that these mags were already illegal? As I am reading the story, he believed they were legal before the 7-rd law which is not even in effect yet.

30 rounders have been illegal/restricted in New York since 1994. Mags made before the '94 ban were grandfathered...but the ones he had were not made before '94.

The new law is not a factor in this case.

So David Gregory can appear in DC on Meet the Press and have an illegal 30rd magazine, yet they don't prosecute! Interesting double standard.

Yes, and as a private gun owning citizen, you would do well to understand that such a double standard exists. Don't paint a target on your own back or make it easy for them.

Don't lecture me! He truly believed they were made before the 94 ban. You want to call him a liar you go for it. LEO's can pick and choose who they want to arrest. You need to not be quite so quick to judge without the knowing all the facts.

I'm not leturing you, I'm responding to your post about the double standard. But since you want to get pissy...Do you know all the facts? How do you know he truly believed they were made before '94?

It sucks for him, but if you live in New York, you damn sure better KNOW that what you possess is legal AND that the double standard you mentioned does exist.

It's hostile territory. Operate in it at your own risk...but do it smartly.
