If this has the straight six motor..it is strong with lots of bottom end torque. It won't win many races but it is reliable. There are lots of upgrades available. Nice.
Thanks, but I went with the ZJ for the 5.2 V8. Ive had 2 2.5 wranglers, and 2 4.0 XJs and wantes some V8 for more towing. Plus the 4.0 only gets +1 mpg over the 5.2 in a ZJ. I definitely would have gone with an XJ again if it were more power.
Project is slow as funds are tight... but got some stuff acomplished. Found a jeep being parted out and scored the center console and 2 more cross bars for $20. My center consol was cracked and cover broken this one is complete. Truck bed lined the cross bars and put them up there. I intend on making a roof rack, but as I cant weld i am thinking emt conduit. Light weight, strong enough, once painted. I can make a 72X48X6 rack for under $100.
I had a credit on amazon so I ordered a set of pod light mounts for between the hood and fender from Apoc Industries. 30$ for these seem excessive for scap bent and drilled, but then I cant do it myself. Pay day hopefully will get a couple of light pods for it (15$ on amazon).
Ohh happy day!!! New development that im excited about!!! Picked up a roof basket yesterday on the cheap. Guy blew his motor and is selling some parts to before he sells the whole thing. Its home made, but is cheaper and better than I could have done for sure. Its thick walled aluminum round tubing. It is square and well built. It measures 80X48X8. Painting it today and mounting maybe this weekend. He also has front tow hooks, all factory skid plates, and tow hitch im trying to buy off him, but he wants to sell the whole jeep. It also had like new tires and a 3 inch rough country lift and NP231 T-case. If I had $300 and a way to tow to wagoner it would be mine in a heartbeat.
Very cool. The old man is working on that 74 Charger I posted about in GD a few weeks back. He has a high school buddy that I can only handle in fairly small doses who has a Camero he is restoring, so I decided that it would be better for everyone concerned that I find my own "thing" to do ...
So they are working on the cars and I enrolled in an online motorcycle repair tech class. I work better by myself anyway so a big project that requires some help manhandling parts probably wasn't a good idea for me.
I bought a parts car for my BMW 5-series for $800. Once I sell the parts I didn't use off the spare I should come out at least even, but I expect to do better than that.
So the guy that had the roof rack before me had it mounted all kinds of funky. So im still trying to figure out how im going to go about it. Also I think it might not look good until its got a lift of some sort on it. But here it is mocked up with some lighting possibilities.
Then I was fiddling around on northern tool website and found a a pair of 55W halogen lights with wiring, inline fuse, and switch for 11.99. The switch and wiring harness are morr than that solo, so I stoped by our tulsa location and picked up the last 3 in stock. Dont know if I will use them all, but figured it was a good deal so why not. Put a pair on my light pod mounts. Will try to wire them soon.
