Well early this AM my wife was walking the leashed dogs like she does every day. One dog is a small 9 pound Bichon and the other a slightly larger Shih Tzu. Out of nowhere appeared a $%^&ing pit bull that visciously attacked both animals. Thanks go out to the neighbor who called 911 with a screaming frantic woman banging on her front door at 6:15 AM.
The Bichon is dead, entrails out everywhere. The Shih Tzu is at the (2nd) vet with puncture wounds and a large gash on his side. If no complications arise he should pull through.
Police say they can't do anything since my wife wasn't bit. They will turn it over to the animal control investigator who will only write the owner a ticket to appear in court. Then it's up to the judge after that. What he will do? I have no idea.
The owner is a young man living in the same house with a large hispanic family. He probably has little or no money to pay for the vet bills that are now approaching $500. Even if he does, collecting may be a challenge.
Needless to say this is all pizzes me off greatly. Anger is overwhelming. Unless the judge does something, no one else will it seems.
I miss my little buddy... a lot. She didn't deserve to die.
