The thread about checking one's lug nuts reminded me of another issue. While the wife and I were moving from Rocky Mountain National Park to the Grand Canyon, we passed an accident on I-70. Someone was pulling their fifth wheel with a boat and trailer hooked on the back of the fifth wheel. That is legal in many states. Anyway, what we first noticed was the tail end of a trailer sticking up above the top of a ditch. Looking up, I saw the boat lying on the other embankment from the trailer. As the pickup and fifth wheel was a bit further up the road from the trailer and boat, I looked at the rear of the fifth wheel. It certainly appeared to me that the hitch and ball were still intact on the RV.

So, to avoid an expensive lesson like that guy learned, double check the trailer ball hitch, and maybe even put a lock on it so no one can lift it up while one is in a service station or whatever.

Sorry, no pictures.
