They have become extremely aggressive lately, I had one camping on the porch of one of my rental properties that refused to leave. Tulsa Police were very indifferent about it. I had another a few weeks later attempt to break into the same rental house and break into a car. Tulsa Police were also very indifferent about that.

After reading some of the post, also consider this. There have been productive citizens that have been thrust into “homeless” status. Not all want to be there, and some do work themselves out. However, I have also seen some productive citizens that have been there that do not climb out, and give up. They then take on the ways of the general “ideas” of the homeless. Mental issues, lack of self care/discipline, and change of personality. These once productive people seem to change almost overnight. Resorting to begging, stealing, drug and alcohol abuse, and truly develop mental issues. As in regard to the mass migration of homeless to Tulsa, several years ago, several homeless individuals stated that they were from Colorado, and had been given one way bus tickets to Tulsa, and told that they would be taken care of in Tulsa. This was done by the city of Denver and Colorado Springs, according to several homeless individuals. I personally heard them. And yes the Tulsa problem has expanded to Broken Arrow.

If they are breaking the law, they should be arrested. I think it's pretty much a free-for-all now since they all realize the police in Tulsa have no interest in doing their job. It's a chore just getting on to show up when there is a burglary in process. Then it's a pain to get them to actually arrest the person, they want to just drop them off a few blocks away. Then it's a pain to get the DA to do anything even if the entire event is on camera. The aggressive criminals amongst the homeless population in Tulsa are provided a safe haven by both TPD and the DA who appear to have absolutely no interest in doing their jobs.

Like Ronald Reagan said, "government is not the solution to our problem, government is the problem .” Many of the homeless have been driven to the streets by our own government in one way or another and many are mental cases. At one time the government had mental hospitals/facilities and in their wisdom, released them to the streets to fend for themselves several decades ago. In the early fifties we had them on Reno in Oklahoma City and if one needed day labor, all they had to do was go where they were in a pickup and hold up one's fingers indicating how many workers you'd need and they'd come running.

Don't YOU know these UTOPIAN LIBERAL CITIES like Denver, and Colorado Springs, don't have a homeless problem? I guess one way of calming that, is to buy them a bus ticket to Tulsa! I have noticed this problem is growing rapidly, I suspect that a big percentage of these people are mentally ill, some self induced by drugs, and alcohol. Years ago when some liberal jerk got all the mental Hospitals, and Institutions, closed, literally caused much of this! Some of these poor people fell through the cracks, and ended up on the streets! This same travesty, sent handy-capped kids to schools, formed group homes, etc. so these liberal jerks would feel good, even though this did great harm to the poor mentally ill people involved! My wife was a Special Ed Teacher, and she had kids that were totally conmotise, and could not possibly ever learn anything, in her class! These ridiiclous mesures sound good, but hurt the very people they are intended to help! and take HUGE AMOUNTS of TAX PAYER MONEY THAT COULD BE USED TO ACTUALLY HELP THESE POOR PEOPLE! JUST MY OPINION! POLITICALLY CORRECTISUM GONE WILD!

You are exactly correct. And the more society became lax on crime and so touchy-freely and allowing all this crap about it’s ok to be different and well he has an excuse, and making excuses for everyone instead of holding people accountable, people with special with special needs ARE NOT STUPID. And a lot times they will see this and will follow suit, however with most often more extreme results. This has been my observations since the 60’s.

This seems like a super idea. One way to CA where the weather is better and they LOVE homeless people. Win win.

The reason for all the homeless is because somebody listened to my idea.
Years ago, several people were talking about some event they had attended in OKC and there were panhandlers "everywhere" they said, and all of them had a hard luck story about how they needed a few bucks to help them get to Tulsa for a family emergency or whatever.
I said well it's a darn shame somebody doesn't just charter a bus to get all those folks right on up to Tulsa and take care of their situation.

I drive these people nuts. When summoned, "excuse me sir!" I'll always stop and chat but won't give out cash, which is ALWAYS what these encounters are about. I've had guys start out with "I'm hungry" but turned down my legitimate offer for a meal. We were going to dinner and I was going to let him eat with us and cover it but really he just wanted cash. Well, I don't carry cash so we're always out of luck. But, I'm more than happy to hear their pitch and try to give them some helpful advice. I've had them so tired of dealing with me that they just walk off when a new mark comes along.

Yeah, Reagan cut back funding for mental illness around 1981. That and the war on drugs with out substance abuse treatment swelled our prison system.
