Everyone has been trolled.

The Egyptians and the Libyans have been trolled, and now Americans are being trolled.

The producers of that film knew it would be incendiary and they released a trailer in conjunction with the 911 anniversary to make money.

Don't you all want to go see that film now???

That is the best theory I have heard all day. Now find some way to blame it on our Israeli friends and the circle will be complete. seriously though, thats a good theory.

The concept of an embassy as "sovereign soil" is dubious, as it exists simply as permitted by the host country.

I would reckon a small force of US state employees and soldiers, surrounded in an enclave by hordes of angry and hostile extremist protestors, probably would have been in a world of poo if they tried dropping bodies.

This probably was the better outcome. The best outcome would be shut that shack down and get the hell out of the sandboxes and stop stickin' out nose where it don't belong.

Looks like they "dropped a body".

AFP:BENGHAZI, Libya — A US official was killed and another wounded on Tuesday as an armed mob protesting over a film they said offended Islam attacked the US consulate in Benghazi, an official told AFP.

After doing some looking, I have found via the net, countries in the world anywhere from 189 to 196, The US State Department recognizes 194 independent countries around the world, but that list of countries reflects the political agenda of the United States of America. As an example, it includes Kosovo, but does not include Taiwan, as China claims that Taiwan (the ROC) is simply a province of China.

A Sept. 30, 2010, Pentagon document titled, "Active Duty Military Personnel Strengths by Regional Area and by Country."

We tallied up all the countries with at least one member of the U.S. military, excluding those with personnel deemed to be "afloat." We found U.S. military personnel on the ground in a whopping 148 countries -- even more than Paul had said. (There are varying standards for what constitutes a "country," so that may explain the divergence from Paul’s number.)

However, we should add a caveat. In 56 of these 148 countries, the U.S. has less than 10 active-duty personnel present. These include such obscure locales as Mongolia, Nepal, Gabon, Togo and Suriname.

IMO military personal in 148 countries in some sort or fashion in ridiculous.

So, out of all the countries that the U.S. recognizes, how many of those have a consulate or embassy?

And that is very true. This stuff happens in war as I am sure you are aware. ( I am making an assumption based on the MOS identifier in your handle). War sucks and sometimes the wrong people get hurt or killed. Lives are destroyed and seeds of resentment are sown. This is reality, and unfortunately for the civilized world the planet is still ruled by the aggressive use of force.

Yes sir you are correct, but why do we have to have boots on the ground in 148 countries? We want to go to war, fine lets declare war, kick @$$ using both hands instead of one tied behind our back, then bring our guys/ gals home, worry about our homeless, our hungry, our borders, and govounering our country like our four fathers meant for it to be, not looking over the worlds shoulder saying your not doing it right, or just let us do it.

It's 9-11 and we've been attacked again. The Obama administration response? A half-hearted statement from Hilary Clinton.

Some extremists that were breaking laws in their own country rioted and attacked an embassy. We've bombed more than one foreign embassy "accidentally".
