Just picked up my first enfield, and I really don't know much about them but the basics.

What I want to know, listed in order of my priorities

Any particularly cool history to it?

What would it take to de-sporterize it?

Is it worth the trouble to de-sporterize it?

How much is it worth? --- not really important, got it from my wife's grandpa because he insisted on paying me for some work I did for him, his money is no good to me, but his guns are fair game. Lol

If you need pics of anything else lmk. Thanks for the help.

You have a Canadian Long Branch No4 Mk1* SMLE. .303 British caliber. Manufactured in 1944, so potentialy may have seen some action in WWII or Korea. Check the wrist band for other markings to see if it has been through an overhaul. Value as sporterised ~$200.00. Rear tangent sight is desireable and and indication of not having been refurbed/overhauled. Looks like all you need to return it to mil configuration is a stock set.
