Sometimes I am Just gettting to nod off to sleep in my chair and I feel something crawling on me. I hate bugs, especially crawling on me!

For the past few months starting at the middle of the heat outside, I've noticed these critters around the tub and sinks. Then they invade my sanctuary, my chair.

They are harmless but do unnerve me when I feel them on me. Anyone else seeing these creatures?

  • Weevils, especially strawberry root weevils, are attracted to moisture. You can trap them in shallow pans of water placed around the foundations or walls of the house.
  • These pans do not capture enough weevils to reduce the number of weevils entering homes.

Weevils inside homes

  • When weevils are found indoors, physically remove them with a vacuum or broom and dustpan.
  • Pesticides are not effective or necessary.
  • These weevils are harmless and temporary and will go away on their own.
  • Their numbers can vary from year to year.
  • If you see many weevils one year, it does not mean that they will be a problem again the next year.

Generally, pesticides are not required.

  • When there are high numbers of weevils, you can apply a pesticide, such as permethrin or bifenthrin, around the home's foundation.
  • Pesticides available to the public are not very effective against weevils.

I set up a waterr trap and fill it daily with a few spoons of water and a drop of dishsoap.

Here is one week's catch.
There are more in the trap.

Since I have set out the trap behind my cchair, I haven't had any crawling on me.

BTW, I vaccum every week.

I had something similar a while back. I would be sitting at my desk in my office and would feel something crawling in my hair. I would pull it out and it would be this small little beetle. Happened occasionally for about 2 weeks before I called my exterminator. When he came out, he determined it was carpet beetles, but the only place I had them were in my office, where I have no carpet. Come to find out, they like to live in taxidermy mounts, thus why they would fall onto my head. He treated my mounts once and the problem was solved.

Side note…. I never told my wife that my mounts were the cause of the problem. 😁

We had an issue with earwigs a few years back. Took three treatments. Apparently the source was lettuce plants on the back porch, they got into our living room. I picked up a magazine to read and it fell on my arm, and pinched me. Fortunately my wife only saw a couple, so not hotel stay required. I hate bugs.

Get yourself a spray with permethrin in it. Treat the whole house, inside an out. It lasts about 3 months outside. Let it dry before your pets are allowed around it, once dry it's safe for pets.
That'll solve the problem and most other bug problems you may have.
Do My Own website is get for the DIY applications. Search "Permethrin" on main page...

Can also get permethrin at your local tractor supply. Be sure to compare active ingredient % as some of the more expensive are also higher concentrate. Dilute it down to match the % in the spray from Cabela's/Bass Pro then use on your hunting clothes - much cheaper this way.
