If I don't like their politics, I don't want anyone else to get mad at me for insulting them if they are conservative. If they are liberal, why should I gift them to a liberal? Cut them up and into the trash.

Yeah, but you’ve effectively just gifted Starbucks the amount of money on the card. They had the money before you got the card, and they no longer have to provide the product promised. That’s a bigger win for them than if you used it to buy the coffee then poured it down the drain.
