The NRA-backed “Parking Lot/Employee Protection” expansion bill is currently under attack by state Senator Jim Halligan (R-21) who has proposed an anti-gun amendment on the Senate floor. His proposed amendment would essentially gut HB 1652 and replace the NRA-supported version with language that violates statewide firearms preemption by allowing school boards to ultimately determine where you have the right to defend yourself. In response to this threat, state Senator Steve Russell (R-45) will also be introducing an amendment that would restore the original title and maintain the language already approved in the state House of Representatives.
