Damn, and I was gonna bring the Garand...rained a bit on Guadalcanal as I remember, but it didn't stop the guys with the Garands. Wouldn't have been a real battle rifle if somebody hadn't slogged through the rain and mud with it. Now my custom Mauser on the other hand....

I got about 1.5 inches of rain overnight. I'm guessing the change to the plan was correct.
