My dad flew an F4U (Corsair) from Aircraft Carriers in WWII. I also like the P-51 Mustang and the P-38 (Split Tailed Devil) .....

And don't forget The Hawker Hurricane ...... :)

If I could fly, and if I were told (during WWII) that I could have my choice of fighters, but on any given day I wouldn't know if I would be flying cover, ground attack, interceptor or whatever role, I'd go with a P-47. Those suckers could do anything and could get you home when others were sucking dirt.

Your dad is my hero. Anyone who can land on a carrier awesome in my book.

Don't forget the C-47 transport. Dropped many paratroopers and towed many gliders as well. Used for civilian transport as DC-3 Used in Vietnam as AC-47 gunship and still can find them flying today. Not very glamorous, but very versatile.
