I was told by some salty old flyfishermen in Colorado that bass fishing on a fly rod is about the most fun you can have fly fishing. I wouldn’t mind giving it a try.You need to try bass fishing with the fly rod. It's a heck of a lot of fun, and much more available locally than trout. Now, I'm going to reveal myself as a true Okie. The most fun I've ever had landing a fish was a 7 pound carp on a fly rod. If you want to try for bass, you may want to look at a 7 weight rod, which would still be good for trout fishing.
Northern New Mexico- Lost Lake, Horseshoe Lake, Red River, Rio Grande, Cabresto, Rio Castilla, Suree Ponds....Thanks for the info!
my office manager, at work. is bringing me some of his old fly gear tomorrow. Going to mess around with it at the house and maybe even try and catch something at the neighborhood pond. But I plan on going to blue river before the end of the month.
Going to buy an Orvis Encounter combo or TFO NTX black label combo if blue river trip goes good.
then hopefully northern New Mexico sometime this summer!
