Actually I'm looking to haul off your old garage door opener, even one that has stripped gears. Have you replaced yours and have the old one in your way? As long as the motor still turns I could use one. Tulsa area. Thanks in advance.

You can put a new gear on it and it works just fine. Mine was done last month.
Let me look in the shop tomorrow. I saved one a couple of years ago just for the remote and motor to build a moving target to use at the range during a match. The motor overloads are too sensitive to allow it for continuous use with multiple users and scrapped the project.

Motorized brass trimmer?
I've seen several folks that use windshield wiper motors because of the gearing and duty cycle is 100% for the motor. Duty cycles for garage door openers is very short.

In my shop (actually just a spare 24x24 garage, I have two single doors. I replaced the opener in the main garage a few months ago when the nylon gears stripped out after the door spring snapped. I rebuilt it and installed the opener in my shop. Now I'm thinking I'd like to power the other door as well.
Yeah, the parts are available from Amazon but many people opt to upgrade to a new opener.
Just went and looked in the shop. I think the unit I had went away during the last cleaning/organizing session.
