I love cobbler. I always thought it was a German style pie but looking it up its colonial. People wanted to make pie and it came about due to lack of traditional ingredients.

I've had it both ways, love it regardless, but tip a tiny bit towards the pie-crust style. Last time I got some blackberry cobbler was at Black Bear Diner, in Moore. The food was great, but their cobbler is made from cans, and the canned taste is inescapable.
Grandma had blackberries growing on the back of Grandpa's garage, and we'd get at least one or two good cobblers every year. I left "home" in 1973, and she died in 1996, not too long after I got back from Germany, and had already been in a nursing home for 7 years. Haven't had a really good cobbler since 1973. SWMBO sometimes made them from frozen berries, and they're getter than BBD, but not as good as Grandma's. SWMBO can't stand long enough to cook much of anything, anymore. I may have to learn how to do them myself. Grandma would approve.

We had a fresh blueberry cobbler this past weekend. We picked them ourselves at the cleanest nicest blueberry farm I’ve visited North of Pryor. 6 different varieties to pick. Very reasonable price for fresh blueberries. We will be doing this from every June / July from now on
I wanted to pick blackberries this season but I was a yellow belly, those chiggers are bad.
