"I believe that if the people of this nation fully understood what Congress has done to them over the last 49 years, they would move on Washington; they would not wait for an election... It adds up to a preconceived plan to destroy the economic and social independence of the United States!"

Quote by: George W. Malone
(1890-1961) U.S. Senator (Nevada)
Date: 1957
Source: speaking before Congress

Although I agree some in the entitlement crowd will be a problem it's likely when a collapse occurs there will be others as well.
If we see bank runs and many of the middle class have their wealth wiped from their accounts and investments how will they react? The middle class has more to lose and will likely not be as easily satisfied with Gov. handouts and housing than the poor.
During the great depression did the banks give people a break when things fell or demand their money and foreclose on people wholesale?

It seems that most, if not all of us agree that this country is in an unrecoverable tailspin. The question each and everyone of us should be asking is, "what are you prepared to do"? My wife finally fell into line after we watched the Greek riots on Fox.

The country that we love and cherish will be just another example of a great empire's rise and fall. Unfortunately, I believe we will all be alive to see its destruction. I fear for our children!

Nope they will keep building the fence around us one post at a time while keeping us fat on corn, one day we'll look up and see a fence completely around us and it will be too late. We don't have the caliber of men today that we did 240 years ago. We have a few but not near enough. Were screwed might as well party while the titanic sinks.

240 years ago? try 60 years ago. The detriment of society and men has been during the 1970's. Started with equal rights, latch key kids, and ultimately the emasculation of men in society.

We will not see widespread unrest over gun laws or normal government mismanagement.

We will rapidly see widespread unrest with disruptions in the supply chain

We have gone so deeply into Just in Time delivery systems that in as little as three days stores will empty, gas stations will run out of fuel.
Within three hours of news of a disruption that three day supply will vanish from shelves leaving you a selection of household cleaners and some pet food on the shelves.

People unable to feed their families will sit around waiting for the government to save them, in a matter of days they will stop waiting and will become a dangerous mob breaking into stores and neighbors homes to get whatever they can find to eat.

Most people do not have more than three days of food in their own home, never mind three days of water.

If any of you do the shopping, remember what its like in Oklahoma when they give a winter storm warning, grocery stores are swamped by people desperate to get a 1-3 day supply of food.
Image what that would be like if the danger to them was more than the inability to drive to a restaurant for a couple of days.

Absolutely. If people will stand in line in front of Academy Sports at 3:00am for an outside chance at being able to purchase a half-plastic rifle that isn't (at least for now) necessary for their survival, what do you think they'll do when the supermarket shelves are empty and their kids are starving?

Agree with Rick - good post.
